It was another FLASH BANG, HUMDINGER, TOE TAPPER of an EVENING AT THE BAR KNOWN FOR IT’S DELICIOUS DOGS, ORTLEIBS! The bands were in full swing and wouldn’t let anything shy of MARCH MADNESS OR BIBLICAL RAIN bring them down. IN FACT, the band only seemed to be getting tighter PLAYING AT THEIR INFAMOUS NORTHERN LIBERTIES HAUNT!
The band kicked things off with the EVER RELIABLE “HOLD ON”, though at ORTLEIBS, there wasn’t a surface of the stage other bands didn’t try to GRAB ON TO! At one point the band was GREETED ONSTAGE BY A MEMBER OF ASBURY PARKS own BOVINE BANDITS.
As for the rest of the set, “STROKES”, “HIT THE ROAD” “ MASTER OF DISGUISE”, “HIGH ON A PLANE” and more of the familiar TOE TAPPING FAVORITES made up the sonic landscape of the night. Offstage, PHOTOGRAPHER ABBY FILON snagged some INCREDIBLE PHOTOGRAPHS and wrote a GLOWING REVIEW WORTH READING!
During the set, some say you can see the SPIRIT OF DECEASED GUITARISTS’ OF THE PAST AND PRESENT possessing DOM ‘s fingers on “NEW MATERIAL”. In the back row, you can hear the drums CRY OUT IN PAIN as JUSTIN beats the skins like they owe him lunch money. Under the right light, you can even see AJ’s EYES through his sunglasses. Like the mythical MEDUSA, you see his eyes once, you might just be turned into a FREELANCE FAN FOR LIFE.
As for SEAN, he sounded commanding. As if he were a RING LEADER for this ROCK AND ROLL CIRCUS. No disrespect to our JERSEY BRETHREN, but there’s no need for THE BOSS when all you have to do is chug beer whenever SEAN’S BASS commands it.
One of the keys to a great show is ensuring GOOD VIBES ARE HAD ALL AROUND. This is where FREELANCE makes the most noise, OFFSTAGE, where they were seen bonding with everyone from BAND MEMBERS to bar SECURITY AND TENDERS.
