Goin’ Back To The Grape For  Freelance Sweatpants

THE BOYS WITH NOISE ended a MONUMENTAL MONTH OF MAY with the lineup and VENUE that echoed THEIR FIRST BIG BREAK. The band now reunited with AJ DECCECO, REJOINED with LAZER SHARK AND CATTAIL BLOOM for a riotous show at the newly REVAMPED GRAPE ROOM.

The three bands PLAYED ALL NIGHT LONG. While there was no LIONEL RICHIE being covered that evening, the set was packed WITH HITS FROM ALL BANDS AND SURPRISE COVERS that thrilled audiences.

CATTAIL BLOOM played  a take on THE ROLLING STONES “WILD HORSES” so GRUNGY and AWESOME that it made the THE SUNDAYS version SOUND LIKE THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY IN COMPARISON. LAZER SHARK delivered high octane thrills with MY PERSONAL FAVORITE LED ZEPPELIN SONG, “ NOBODY’S FAULT BUT MINE”.

FREELANCE AS ALWAYS brought the house down with their signature cover of the LIAM LYNCH HIT “MY UNITED STATES OF WHATEVER”. It felt as though ALL THREE artists were giving the AUDIENCE a glimpse into their PERSONAL PLAYLISTS that night.

The show was PERSONAL FOR ALL 3 ACTS INVOLVED. AS HISTORY SHALL HAVETH DOCUMENTED IN THE SCROLLS ON THIS MANIC BLOG, the INAUGURAL GRAPE ROOM SHOW was the first ever big gig for FREELANCE. While we may not have brought the numbers as the first time, FREELANCE’S ARSENAL OF TOE TAPPING FAVORITES kept the FANS OF THE OTHER ACTS ENGAGED AND DEMANDING MORE!

AFTER MULTIPLE YEARS OF PLAYING WITH LAZER SHARK AND CATTAIL BLOOM, the bands in this lineup feel as though they are a part of one big ONSTAGE FAMILY. That sentiment carried over to the END OF LAZER SHARKS set, WHEN ALL BANDS WERE ON STAGE for a GRAND SLAM OF A SUMMER JAM.

How that tiny stage fit 12+ people is a mystery and a SOUND MIXERS WORST NIGHTMARE. Those in the audience, hearing the band play “ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME” by COLDPLAY SUDDENLY KNEW THAT THESE WEREN’T BANDS ONSTAGE, BUT A COMMUNITY SINGING FOR THE MOMENT, A MOMENT THAT I’M SURE THEY WILL FREEZE AND HOLD IT AND How that tiny stage fit 12+ people is a mystery and a SOUND MIXERS WORST NIGHTMARE. Those in the audience, hearing the band play “ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME” by COLDPLAY SUDDENLY KNEW THAT THESE WEREN’T BANDS ONSTAGE, BUT A COMMUNITY SINGING FOR THE MOMENT, A MOMENT THAT I’M SURE THEY WILL FREEZE AND HOLD IT, AND CONSIDER THIS MOMENT GOLDEN.

FOR THE GRAND FINALE, THE BANDS brought the house down with a cover of THE LIT HIT “MY OWN WORST ENEMY”. A song covered by both Lazer Shark and Freelance, there was no animosity between acts, JUST A LOVE OF PLAYING MUSIC!

Sometimes as this night showed, THAT’S ALL YOU NEED.

SPECIAL THANKS: DIANE, FREELANCE SWEATPANTS, LAZER SHARK, CATTAIL BLOOM, ABBY, THE GRAPE ROOM, WHOEVER MIXED A 12 MAN BAND.
